The Journey Begins
Hi People!
This is my first post. In my first blog ever. The beginning of my existence on the all encompassing network called the Internet.
I am a typical engineer who wants to try out new technology and even newer applications, be it within the realm of my own field, which happens to be Chemical Engineering, or outside. Presently working with a media company as a business analyst, I drive the new projects and digital media initiatives in the company. Considering the kind of job profile I have, I figured it was high time I put some of the knowledge about Web 2.0 that I had gained, to some practical use for myself. For those of you who are wondering, I have joined the media industry 8 months back, before which I was working in the marketing department of an engineering firm.
Why this transition? Well, I was always interested in the fine art of imprinting a product onto the psyche of the customer. This job profile allows me to do just that, albeit with different products - new licenses, new titles, new media. And to different customers - the general population, prospective international partners, and even our own management. I am getting to learn about various aspects of project management like marketing, finance, forecasting, relations, etc. Some things I could not visualize myself handling even five years down the line in my earstwhile industry.
And getting settled in the media industry wasn’t very tough, given the fact that majority of my friends (my gang) are linked to the media industry in one way or the other. You will often read about my gang on this blog, and in addition I’ll be writing about myriad other matters which interest me and could be of help to others.
As they say, the journey has just begun…
